the technical term is "weird character". ;) I won't bore you
with the details, but that kind of characters has the nasty
habit of showing up differently on different computers.
Given that this is a question about trig functions, I'd bet
that was the character "pi" when Tanisha typed it.
@Moderators: is there a way to send people a "FAQ" when they
join the list? Suggested topics include at least:
- use parenthesis
- "^" means exponentiation
- don't use funky characters, just write out their names in
"normal" (excuse the word) letters (that is "pi", "alpha",
"theta" and so on)
