= (16/(2(8 - 3(2)))) +1
= (16/(2(8-6)))+1
= (16/(2(2)))+1
= (16/4)+1
= 4+1
= 5
 
... and don't forget:
 
16 / (2(8 - 3(4 - 2)) +1)
= 16/(2(8 - 3(2)) +1)
= 16/(2(8-6)+1)
= 16/(2(2)+1)
= 16/(4+1)
= 16/5
 
... moral: when rendered in ascii, many equations are ambiguious without liberal use of parentheses.
