The equation is d=rt. Distance = Rate * Time.
d = r * t
Ching 50t = 50 * t
Phil 60(t-1) = 60 * t-1
When they meet, their combined distance covered will be 380 miles.
50t + 60(t-1) = 380
5t + 6(t-1) = 38
11t - 6 =38
11t = 44
t = 4 hours
Since t represents the time traveled by Ching, it directly answers the
question, "How many hours does Ching travel?"
