Aloo/Alu Matar
Ingredients: Sufficient for two people
2-3 Potatoes
1/2 cup Peas
1 small onion chopped2 Green chilies chopped finely
2 Tomatoes chopped finely1 tsp Coriander powder
1 tsp cumin seeds1/2 mustard seeds
1/2 Turmeric powder1/2 garam masala
1/2 tsp Red chili powder2 tbsp Oil
Salt To TasteChopped coriander leaves to garnish
Method: Peel the potatoes and cut them into medium sized cubes. Boil the potatoes and peas and keep aside.
Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and fry till they pop up. Add the chopped onion and green chillies and fry until it becomes brown in color. Add chopped tomatoes and let it cook until it forms a thick gravy. Next add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala, coriander powder & mix well. Cover and cook for few minutes.
Add the boiled potatoes, peas and 2 cup of water.Mash potatos a bit and cook on slow flame until a thick gravy is formed, finally garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with parathas.
You can have this with rice also.
