Re: [Math4u] Re: 4 situations

Which symbols are used depends heavily on which medium is used. Since this
is a mailing list, the medium is text typed into a computer. Mostly out of
practical considerations, it is a very common convention to use a slash for
just about anything, either division, ratio or fraction.
(This is not the only convention though; I'm not sure when you joined this
list, but we've recently had quite a couple of emails about this subject.)
