Ok, Bodor, you've made a big fuss out of a tiny matter.
It is just a convention that purplemath adopts.
However, so many mathematicians do not follow that. They follow priority rules others have mentioned before. In particular, multiplication and division have the same priority, and first come first served (excuted). If you feel convinces that multiplication sticked to brackets has the priority over the preceeding division, that is fine. A person is to adopt whatever s/he may like. But we here tell the global rule thet most follow.
