A slash does not replace a horizontal line.
3+4
----- = 1
2+5
3+4/2+5=10
(3+4) / (2+5) = 1
This guy who just wrote in the problem with the inverse function left out the brackets. Maybe it is his teacher's fault. Getting the brackets correct is far more important than inverse functions.

I would use the various symbols as follows:

:   Ratio
/   Division (also used for fraction)
/   Actually replaces straight line when typing

Hi everybody,
I'd like to know once and for all which symbols to put
I have learned that
means division , now  the colon
means ratio.
so how to write division?

the slash        /            or
 the horizontal line ____
are used to indicate a fraction (a bar of fraction)
so how some write / slash as divison.
is
/ slash for both fraction an division?
Best wishes
